Cages Parrot

Jan 2012 Looking for cages for your parrot? Don’t know where to start? Start here and look no further: we’ve got cages suitable for every type of parrot, cages that will keep your parrot safe in every kind of finish, cages that give your parrot room to move, cages that put your parrot in every style of home you can imagine, cages for your parrot that will blend in with the decor of your home....

You get the idea. Doesn’t matter how large or small your bird, or how many of them you have – there are cages suitable for the large parrot, cages suitable for the small parrot: cockatiel cages and macaw cages and everything in between. From African Grey to parakeet, you’ll find cages that keep your parrot safe, occupied and unrestricted.

Modern cages are designed to prevent the parrot from feeling confined: they are as spacious as room will allow and are often treated with special materials so the bird doesn’t rub damagingly against them. The materials used in the construction of cages for your parrot are uniformly tested to ensure their levels of toxicity are either non-existent or very low (of such minute quantity that the cages’ bars or flooring will be absolutely harmless to the parrot). The cages give the parrot the illusion of space and you the security of knowing that the bird is both securely contained and happy.

Broadly speaking there are two types of cages suitable for parrot species: the “classic” cages, which keep the parrot safely in authentic-looking (though much more roomy) Victorian-style containers; and aviaries – cages that give the parrot room to fly properly. Aviaries, like classic cages for your parrot, tend to retain a design feel similar to the Victorian, though again they are roomier, better-designed and, most importantly, constructed of material that is neither injurious nor easily broken. These cages are meant to keep the parrot – happily – in: a questing bill isn’t going to snap their bars, however nice and antique they look.

Which cages you choose for your parrot depends in large part on how much space you have available. It’s always better to give your birds room to move, so if you have the ability then cages that let the parrot fly are the best option. In aviary-type cages, the parrot gets plenty of exercise, which keeps plumage bright and free of pests or moult. Classic room-type cages try to allow your parrot a similar freedom of movement: there’s certainly enough room for the parrot to play, but these cages can’t really let them fly. That said, modern room-style cages are of course designed to stimulate the parrot’s natural impulses as much as possible.
